An 81-year-old grandmother has scooped £100,000 at a Wolverhampton bingo club. Her plans are to buy new carpets and treat her family with the cash she won at Gala Bingo, in Bushbury Lane.
The mother-of-four and grandmother-of-seven, thought she had won £50 but ended up with the top prize of £100,000.
She said: “I was stunned when it finally sunk in how much I had won and my family were absolutely flabbergasted. My grandchildren are already wondering how much they’re going to get.”
The widow has been playing bingo six times a week for 21 years at the Gala club and won the six-figure sum on Friday.
She is not the first player to walk away with a fortune from the Bushbury Lane club. In 2003, a 29-year-old woman scooped a £201,000 windfall and other players have gone home with up to £50,000.
The latest winner triumphed in the National Bingo Game after completing a full house in 36 numbers - the lowest in any of the 500 clubs nationwide that were playing the game.
Over £1 million is played for every week in the game, the second biggest in the country.
